Here comes the sun!

There is not a more appropriate title for this blog post! Firstly, the sun is coming, maybe not so much today because we had a little monsoon earlier but Britain is getting brighter and warmer. At least for now.

Secondly, THANK YOU SO MUCH to Amanda for featuring a great giveaway on her blog 'herecomesthesunblog'. I was the lucky winner of a darling Dahlia dress and the most amazing thing? ... I get to choose anything I like!
The funny thing is I was begging the husbs to let me get a new dress for our anniversary getaway in a few weeks and this happens the next day! He very nearly said yes so maybe now I can squeeze a few other items out of him! That was one big adjustment to getting married - joint bank accounts!

I found Amanda a few weeks ago while looking for inspiration for new projects. I can't say I know her but she is LOVELY and so is her blog! Check it out! Plus, she lives in New Zealand and we stopped by there for ten days on our travelling honeymoon! Fond memories of bonding in a campervan for the first few weeks of our marriage. <3

Here are a few of my favourites so far. What do you think? Dahlia have too many pretty things *sigh*

I'm going to enjoy every minute of choosing one of these little gems! OVER THE MOON!

Hello sunshine!

What a glorious day friends!
Amazing how the weather can improve even the worst of sickness! I'm feeling a lot better. I had my second trip of the week to see my doctor and had some blood tests done today which made me feel a whole lot better knowing I'll hopefully get some sort of reason behind all my sickness & tiredness. Even if it comes back that I'm healthy, that's all I really need. Just something.

Anyway, the Queen's Jubilee is coming up. I'm actually quite excited about it because we're having a street party. Really looking forward to getting to know some neighbours. We've been at our house for six months and still don't know anyone except for the odd 'hello' in the street. It's a bit of a cheat really because it's not our road doing it, it's the road around the corner and since we know the couple that are organising it we're going. So I guess it's not so much neighbours we'll be meeting but people in our area. It's a start.

Here's something I've made recently. The Queen's Jubilee means a lot of of English Afternoon Tea so there's nothing more appropriate than to make something to hold finger sandwiches and little cakes! (can be found in my shop).

All I'm going to do this weekend is lie in the sunshine and eat naughty treats! What else is the beginning of summer for?! Enjoy your weekend!

One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.

Oh my!
This has been a crazy week. I am so tired. I feel like I haven't been myself for a while, I just keep getting sick! I don't know what it is but it's annoying now. I just want to be well. Sam and I have been married nearly a year and in one month we'll be going to the south of Spain for two whole weeks. *sigh* I cannot wait to relax, get some decent sunshine and spend some time with two of our best friends.
Talking of best friends, our best man got engaged to his girl last Friday. It's so exciting! So many of us have gotten engaged and married within a few months of each other - so nice to go through this journey together! Congratulations Josh & Natalia!

I was also commissioned to make a guest book for another friends wedding coming up at the beginning of June. She's getting married in Ireland and unfortuantely I can't go, but I know it will be a totally beautiful day, she's done so many handmade, creative things - almost makes me want to do it all again!

Aside from feeling unwell, I got down and busy with creating more things and even did a bit of painting on canvas. It's so freeing and satisfying painting onto a white canvas. I didn't have a clue what I wanted to do I just had the urge to paint and this was the result:

Not sure yet what I'll do with it but for now it's just hanging in our bedroom.
I have more things to share soon so I'll be updating again this week. Hope you are all having a great week so far. We are finally getting some sun in England, waking up is becoming much easier with it streaming through the windows!
Happy Tuesday!

Keep calm and have a cupcake!

Holla!
I am watching Man vs Food and it's making me so hungry! Reminds me so much of the end part of our honeymoon after travelling two months across America, all the food we ate and all the food we didn't eat! There was so much we wanted but just didn't have bellies big enough!
Already my morning has been lovely. It's my day off. Sam left the heating on when he left for work which means I woke up in a good mood. I can never get out of bed when it's cold. I did a bit of cleaning, had a huge bowl of fruit for breakie and caught up with a bit of tele, all before lunchtime.

I did a bit of painting this week. It's been so long since I picked up a paintbrush and it felt so good. I'll share with you soon. I love having the time to be creative, it motivates me so much to get to where I want to be.

I also made a cupcake stand this week, more ceramic/porcelain painting - I can't tell you how satisfying it is to make something plain into something pretty.
Here it is and it's available to purchase in my shop!

Feel like eating cake now....

Fun, family & food!

Hi!
How was your weekend? Mine was full of fun, family and food! I love times when my whole family gets together. There are four of us kids, two married in Birmingham, one in Manchester and the other in Liverpool so I find the times when all four of us with mom and dad really precious! We have SO much fun, I'm really lucky. <3 It was my big sister's 25th birthday at the end of April so we all saved this weekend to do something special.
Here we are:
(L-R. baby sis, big sis, me and brother)(height order, not age!)

This is something I made her too:

And here's some yumminess from this week: (...that can include my hubby right?!)

Have a wonderful week! I'll be creating some more crafts and ceramics to share with you soon!

Ceramics, porcelain and pottery

Hello!
Here's the handpainted teacups I've been working on! They have been tested and are dishwasher safe! WINNER! Loved working on these and will be creating more with new designs soon! I will be interested to know what pretty designs you'd like to see on teacups or other ceramics!?

Finding treasure

Evening friends!
I love it when Sam falls asleep with his book in his hand, that's the current situation we have here! He's dreaming and I'm dreaming up ideas. :o)
I've been thinking about the blog and I don't just want it to be all about the business, I want it to be about our life too because that's the main thing that inspires me in my creativity, so I'll be making a few changes in the coming months, but I promise to keep you updated with all things art and crafty.

My fingers are healing up nicely, granted it's been a whole week but we're getting there. I now just have to have two single dressings on each finger so I can move them a lot more, the joy of being able to type again properly is something I don't think I'll take lightly anymore. I learnt this week that having two fingers out of action causes a great deal of disability and I've needed a lot of help in the day to day things I do. Feeling grateful tonight.

The sweetest thing this week was that Sam's mom was getting rid of some old crockery and I managed to grab these before they went off to the tip! *heart melts*

I haven't decided what to do with them yet but they are making my house look so much more homely and pretty!

If you look to the right, I've added a link to my shop so please go check it out! I'll be updating as often as I can and I've finished my teacup project so I'll be updating you with that in my next post!

Have a good evening guys. I'm off to n'nighs!

P.s. I found £5 down the back of my sofa yesterday - that has never happened to me!

April showers bring May flowers

Hi friends!
April has just been wind and rain and I feel like I've been in the wars lately! I spent saturday afternoon in A&E after slicing two of my fingers on a steak knife while cutting an avocado (don't ask!), my big sister had a car crash and my little sister fell off her bicycle! Not a great week for injuries in my family. The husbs has been on dinner duty this week and is helping me wash my hair everyday so things are a little crazy around here!

Thankful that we are all fine and thankful for a the first day of May! Hopeful for some sunshine this month! Ok, maybe I won't get my sunnies out yet...

I've been working on something new that I've not tried before! I can't wait to share it with you - the project got put on hold because of my injured fingers but I get to take the dressing off on Friday so will hopefully get it finished this weekend! I LOVE trying new things, creating the same things all the time can get tedious, and if I want to do what I LOVE doing for a full time job I don't want it to get to the point where I'm bored and the joy of creating no longer excites me, all I will reveal is that this project involves teacups!

If you know me, one of the things you'll know is that I love BUTTONS!

So when my friend asked me to make something pretty for his wife's birthday this week it was the first thought that came into my head. He gave me 2.5 days notice (bless him) but I was up for the challenge, plus, they are two of my favourite people!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NAOMI!

Here are a few pictures of the favours I made for my wedding, I've been in lots of friends houses the last few months and they are all hanging up in their homes. Sweet love!
